Since this is a new site, I was hoping to get some feedback on the overall feel of the design and layout. I'm quite pleased with the way it has turned out, but I'm not everyone so if you feel otherwise please let me know.

I like the skin of the forum. The organization of the forums and categories are very well laid out. However, I don't think "Forum Promotion" should be under Marketplace? That would be my only suggestion so far. Hope that's helpful. :-D

I knew I didn't label it correctly, I had a feeling it would create confusion. It's actually intended for forum owners to discuss the types of contests and promotions they run in their own forum, it's not meant as a marketplace style ad category. Hmm, I'll have to think of a way to reword it.

Overall good design and community. I would use a fixed layout instead of a liquid one (so that you can accommodate both wide and narrow screen users). The logo needs bit more work (don't use bevels and emboss on a logo, unless you make them 1 pixel, the shadow should have zero distance or a smaller size. it looks default. I'm a 'power' phootoshop user, so please allow me to nitpick a little :D

Good category organization, good content so far. Keep on adding many new topics and keep the activity growing, you're doing great so far. Love the community already

You would absolutely hate my logos then lol. My PS skills are bleh.

I think it looks great. I like the textured back ground. I think some forums try to get to fancy with them, and they become distracting. But this one is perfect.

The home button and forums button on the navigation both go to the index forum page. I would put other content in the home tab or eliminate it.

I've tried a fixed layout in the past on other sites, however my members ran into issues with the site not being narrow enough for their lower resolutions. To set it low enough to satisfy everyone meant that it looked horrible on my 1920x1080 laptop. The current 10% margin setup seems to satisfy most people and still works really well on smart phones.

I actually plan on changing the main font in the logo, I'm just looking for the right one. I don't like how the current one looks choppy and doesn't have smooth edges. I'll reduce the bevel and emboss a bit in the new one. ;)

    Thanks! :D

Yeah, I've seen it in other forums and loved the look so I thought I'd try it out for once.

Hmm, I just saw that somewhere in the xenforo forums. I'll have to do a quick search.

Actually, it's x3. Clicking the banner takes you back to the home page, which is pretty standard for most users to assume, in addition to having 2 unique tabs for it. I understand having one of the tabs there anyway, but 2 is too much. If you were to have a homepage/portal, too, then it'd make sense....but please don't add one. :p

I'm with Jessi on that one. I'm not a fan of portal pages in forums. I want the first page of sites I visit to be the content, not a random splash type page. It helps with SEO as well since the main content is less clicks away from the index page holding the majority of rank value.

I am new here, so I do not know how much weight my opinion really has. However, overall I think the design of this forum is great! It is easy to follow and I like the layout a lot. The icons showing whether or not there have been new posts in a particular forum are nicely made & goes along with the title on the top of the page.

I've sure some people have noticed, but I've made lots of tweaks over the last 24 hours. I've fixed many of the requests/suggestions made in this thread.

    These changes include:
    - new logo font
    - less bevel/emboss
    - hopefully less visible drop shadow
    - removed "home" from breadcrumb menu
    - changed logo arrow
    - changed node icons
    - added category images
    - added recommended posts in sidebar

If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. :D

Is it just me or did the favicon disappear in the last 24 hours as well? It appears to have on my end, but maybe that's to do with your logo change somewhere?

And I'm liking the other tweaks so far. :)

Hmm it should still be there. I haven't done anything with the favicon and it's still located at: http://www.forumleaders.com/favicon.ico

I'm assuming it's just a browser cache issue.

Hmm, I just cleared my cache and did a hard rest on the page and it's not back yet, but hopefully it will be later. I'm sure it's just on my end if you haven't touched it at all....no worries. If it doesn't come back on its own, I'll investigate further, but I'm probably the only one not seeing it then.

Okay, for the record, I did try the refresh spamming technique I mentioned on another forum and it's still not reappearing for me. Can somebody other than Amdac check yours and let me know if others are missing it as well?

This is the first forum about forums that I have not immediately rolled my eyes at. There's a lot of good information here. I really appreciate what I've been able to discuss and learn in the last few days.

A fixed background of a gradient of some sort might make it feel a little more spacious. Just a thought.
